3.2. Cultural Mediation Research Group
Culture pour tous / Centre de recherche sur les innovations sociales / UQÀM
forces with the Alliance de recherche universités-communautés en économie sociale (ARUC-ÉS) and the Université du Québec à Montréal’s Service aux collectivités (SAC/UQÀM) to set up a working group aimed at developing professional and academic expertise in the field of cultural mediation.
This group, called the Cultural Mediation Research Group (CMRG), was later joined by the Ville de Montréal’s Direction du développement culturel and is now headed by the Université du Québec à Montréal’s Centre de recherche sur les innovations sociales (CRISES).
The CMRG was established to respond to the need for information and training expressed by numerous cultural and municipal organizations and representatives, who are seeking to develop new relations with diverse populations while putting forward new approaches to the appropriation of artistic processes and cultural productions. Among its objectives, the partnership aims to enrich professional practices in cultural mediation; put into place the conditions, opportunities and sites for meetings between the various actors; and mobilize the cultural and academic sectors to help develop Quebec expertise in this field.
CMRG members have collaborated on research projects, documenting initiatives and case studies, organizing professional seminars and conferences, and offering retraining in cultural mediation.
